Flush Pounds
I’m trying to put on a little size (15 pounds), and want to know how much protein the body can process at once?
Also, How much in one sitting I should be able to eat without my body flushing it out?
How long should I wait between eating?… For ex: should I be taking a protein shake every two hours? etc.
I weigh-in at 195 and want to put on 15 pounds of muscle.
The easy answer…and BEST…is a gram of protein for every lb of body mass, everyday and spread over the entire day. So for you, 200 grams of protein, no matter the source, everyday. You can only process a maximum of about 50 g of protein per meal so you must spread your meals out to about 5-6 meals from dawn to bedtime, and even wake up to eat in the middle of the night if you’re really serious about gaining bulk.
Most shake mixes have about 24 g per serving (scoop) so a 2 scoop shake twice a day…and one of those should be post workout to create an insulin spike…should cover half of your protein needs, while eating a high protein diet of egg whites, cottage cheese, fish, and chicken should cover the rest. You must get your protein from more than just supplements!!!!!! You will miss out on other very important nutrition if you rely on shakes and supplements!!!!!!
I’m 5′8″ 160 lbs with barely any Body Fat and I eat 4 eggs at 8, cottage cheese snack at 10:30, tuna sandwich (no cheese) lunch at 1, protein shake and oatmeal at 3, an apple whenever I get hungry, a banana whenever I’m hungry, fish or chicken for dinner, workout, and then protein shake minutes after I leave the gym, and some cottage cheese before bed.
