When was the last time you looked at the label on your skin care products? Products you think are safe to use on your skin just may, in fact, be harmful if you’re not aware of the ingredients used. These days there are just so many products to choose from it makes you confused as to which one is safe and the right one for you.
In the article, I’ll make you aware of those harmful ingredients but also go over the ones that are safe and healthy for you to use on your skin.
Just to let you know, even if skin care products don’t have any harmful ingredients listed on the label this doesn’t mean they’re helpful either.
In this case, you’ll need to note whether or not the skin care ingredients you are using have been tested (clinically and scientifically) on humans to work to improve the skin’s appearance and health before you spend your hard earned money on any of the best skin care products advertisers tell you to use.
To start off, let’s take a look at the not so good side of those skin care products and the ingredients they use which in actuality are toxic and should be avoided.
1. Parabens: Synthetic chemicals that are effective powerful preservatives. Helps the product stay on the store shelf longer. Studies have suggested that parabens may be linked to possible cancer and cause allergic reactions. They can be spotted with names such as methylparaden or propylparaden, but should be avoided.
2. Mineral Oil: What is mineral oil exactly? A byproduct of petrolium production! Goes by names like paraffin wax, petrolatum, baby oil…but why? It’s simply used as cheap filler in many skin care products. Even though it feels like it’s moisturizing your skin, it actually interferes with normal perspiration, clogs pores and prevents skin from eliminating toxins.
3. Acrylamide: Yet another hazardous chemical that is an ingredient in many body and face moisturizers, creams, and anti aging products! This is a dangerous chemical and should be completely avoided because it may cause cancer and it’s very irritating to the eyes and skin.
Just knowing what the skin care companies have listed as ingredients, makes me realize why I’m not interested in helping them make more money at the expense of my health.

Now let’s talk about some of the best skin care ingredients to look for and what they should do to keep you looking youthful and healthy.
In order to have youthful and healthy skin, you’ll have to understand that Your Body must be producing collagen and elastin. Why? They are the two most important skin proteins.
And since we’re all aging, our body produces less collagen and elastin which it why we start to wrinkle, our skin starts to sag and age spots develop. Not to worry though, because when you search for skin care products, just make sure the ingredients you are using have been clinically proven to boost your body’s production of collagen and elastin.

Another effective (and healthy) ingredient is called phytessence wakame. Basically, it’s a special type of Japanese sea kelp. Studies have shown that: it can soothe skin, make skin smoother, and fight inflammation.
